A local retail employee was arrested by the Santa Clara Police Department after officers conducted an investigation into a reported incident of brandishing a handgun according to their official Twitter account. The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found inside the retail establishment where he worked.
The victim in the case positively identified the suspect, prompting the officers to conduct a search of a frequented storage area within the establishment, which led to an unsettling find: a Glock-style 'Ghost' handgun and ammunition were discovered. The term 'Ghost' gun typically refers to a firearm that has been assembled from component parts, often without serial numbers, making it difficult to trace, and in many cases, it falls outside the purview of gun control laws.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the suspect was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) due to a prior conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm. In a twist of irony, the suspect was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the arrest. Subsequently, a probation hold was issued, and the suspect was booked into the County Jail.
