Today a nerve-wracking standoff sparked by a disturbance involving a firearm ended, as San Jose police managed to negotiate a peaceful surrender of a male suspect, according to SJPD Twitter.

Initial reports indicated that the suspect had discharged at least one round before police arrived on scene at the 4300 Block of Renaissance Dr. San Jose Police Media Relations reported that their Merge Unit and Tactical Negotiators were sent to the scene in an attempt to persuade the suspect to surrender peacefully.
As the situation unfolded, law enforcement urged the public to avoid the area and find alternative routes, deeming it necessary for both their own safety and the successful conclusion of the situation. The operation lasted for hours, culminating in the eventual peaceful surrender of the male suspect.
Following the surrender, officers remained on the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event and ensure the area's safety.
As the investigation continues, authorities have thanked the public for their patience and cooperation and maintained a request to avoid the area until the situation is completely resolved; this way, they can ensure that all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined, expect some traffic delays.
