Late last night, a tragic accident occurred near the Mira Mesa intersection that resulted in the death of an unidentified driver. The collision took place at around 10:15 p.m. near Camino Ruiz and Calle Cristobal, and involved only the victim's vehicle, a 2018 Honda Fit hatchback, San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Officers responding to reports of the accident discovered the driver bleeding from his neck with severe leg injuries and he was rushed to Scripps Mercy Hospital where, tragically, he was soon pronounced dead after arrival. Fox 5 San Diego reports that the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) is currently investigating the incident with the involvement of their Traffic Division.
ABC 10News notes that the vehicle had almost collided with protective barriers placed around a nearby home, with further details yet to be released, including the age and identity of the driver.
