Comic-Con fans and Sonic the Hedgehog enthusiasts in San Diego can now experience more than just the thrill of the gaming franchise. Rejoice, because San Diego's East Village has now become the home for the new Sonic the Hedgehog-themed pop-up restaurant, Sonic Speed Cafe, which opened yesterday. Get ready for a nostalgic trip back to the '90s, and join the animated world of Sonic.

Located at 910 J Street Space 2 in downtown San Diego's East Village, the pop-up establishment will serve delicious Sonic-inspired dishes like "Sonic's Classic Chili Dog" and the "Knuckles Sandwich," a crispy fried chicken sandwich based on the red echidna, as FOX 5 San Diego reported. If you're craving for more, don't worry! Side dishes and refreshments inspired by your favorite video game characters will also be available. Try their "Golden Ring" onion rings, "Fast Fries," and the "Blue Blur" blueberry slushie, or have a sip of Tails-inspired "Flying Fox" mango orange slushie and "Team Dark" mocha milkshake.
And that's not all. The pop-up cafe, a collaboration between Sega and restaurateur Andy Nguyen of Secret Sauce Society, will be decked out with Sonic-themed artwork, decor, and characters. As Sonic Stadium revealed, the venue also features exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe merchandise like hats, hoodies, and t-shirts for sale to guests. And if that wasn't enough Sonic love for ya, each order will come in custom Sonic packaging!

A grand opening ceremony was held on July 19, with Sega officials and the official Sonic mascot in attendance. The restaurant will remain open through August 20, so there's plenty of time for Sonic fans to pay a visit before it transforms back into a Chick'nCone location. Keep an eye on the restaurant's operating hours, as they differ during Comic-Con, which kicks off on July 20. The pop-up will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from July 13 to 18 and July 24 to August 20, and from 11 a.m. to midnight from July 19 to 23, during Comic-Con, as mentioned in FOX 5 San Diego.
