A man and a woman, later identified as Calvin Brown and Rolaena Blunt, embarked on a dangerous multi-county crime spree that ended with their apprehension in Encinitas according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department. The pair committed a series of crimes, including carjackings, a smoke shop robbery, and multiple shootings before finally being captured by law enforcement.

Police and sheriff's departments pieced together this wild chain of events that spanned across several areas of San Diego County, suggesting that these crimes were committed by the same individuals. The spree began with a shooting in Imperial Beach around 5:15 p.m. as reported by NBC San Diego. Afterward, the same suspects allegedly robbed a North Park business located at El Cajon Boulevard per FOX 5 San Diego.

The pair then caused a rollover crash on Interstate 805 at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in Kearny Mesa, which left at least one person injured but still managed to escape the scene according to CBS 8. The suspects continued their rampage by carjacking a burgundy Nissan Versa at gunpoint on Convoy Court. Authorities believe the duo later abandoned this vehicle on Nolbey Street in Cardiff after another crash, before carjacking a white Ford Fusion at gunpoint.

In a harrowing turn of events, during the time that these suspects temporarily evaded authorities, a key witness and carjacking victim followed them with the help of a good Samaritan. When the suspect, Calvin Brown, noticed they were being followed, he fired multiple shots at the two pursuers, hitting several unoccupied vehicles but fortunately not causing any injuries.

With the help of a Sheriff's ASTREA helicopter, deputies scoured the area searching for the dangerous duo and finally caught up with them near an LA Fitness at 201 S El Camino Real in Encinitas. During the arrest, a handgun and ammunition were recovered, and Brown and Blunt were booked on multiple charges including attempted murder, carjacking, and assault with a deadly weapon. Brown also faced gun charges following his involvement in another shooting earlier that day where he left a woman with non-life-threatening injuries.
