On August 16, 2023, 65-year-old Peter DIGANGI was caught and charged with multiple felonies after engaging in explicit online conversations with an undercover agent who posed as a 13-year-old boy on a social media/dating application. According to the Pleasant Hill Police Department's (PHPD) official statement, the incident culminated in DIGANGI's arrest upon attempting to meet the supposed minor.
A search warrant led to the discovery of numerous electronic devices containing child sexual assault material. DIGANGI now faces multiple felony charges, including meeting with a minor for lewd/lascivious acts, contacting a minor for lewd/lascivious acts, attempted lewd/lascivious acts with a minor under 14, sending explicit/obscene material to a minor, and possessing over 600 images of child pornography, including at least 10 images of children under the age of 12.
The PHPD routinely performs operations in collaboration with the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. These efforts strive to uncover the identities of those targeting minors, with the ultimate goal of preventing these horrendous crimes from coming to fruition.
