On Sunday, at 10:19 pm, a frightening scene unfolded in the City of Richmond, near the intersection of Macdonald Ave. and 1st St. According to El Cerrito PD, unknown assailants began a high-speed pursuit of three individuals, chasing them for over 50 city blocks.
The assailants opened fire on their targets. Their ensuring hail of gunfire struck the victims several times while the terrified trio attempted to escape. Tearing through the streets, the victims' car eventually entered El Cerrito, crashing into a parked car near the intersection with Mono Ave as their ordeal continued still.
The assailants fired at least 12 rounds at the individuals, as reported on CBS News San Francisco.
With the aid of officers from the El Cerrito and Richmond Police departments, the victims were located and connected to the vital emergency medical attention they required. All three victims were transported to nearby hospitals. Thankfully, they are expected to recover from their injuries.
The El Cerrito Police Department seeks additional information to uncover those responsible for this heinous crime. A call to action is given; a plea for support from the community they serve. The authorities are asking residents and businesses on Macdonald Ave. to review their surveillance systems for images or video of the chase that terrorized their streets from 10:10 pm to 10:20 pm on that Sunday night.
Residents near Macdonald Ave. and Mono Ave. are urged to examine their video surveillance footage for glimpses of the suspect vehicle fleeing the area.
