On August 11, 2023, Dublin Police Services launched an investigation focusing on the distribution of illegal weaponry from a business on the 6500 block of Dublin Blvd, known as Dublin Knives. According to the official report from the Dublin Police Services, the execution of a search warrant on the premises resulted in the discovery of more than 2000 illegal switchblade knives, 40 rifles and handguns, body armor, cane swords, brass knuckles, and other firearms.

The owner of the business, 51-year-old Deepak Chopra, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including possession of illegal firearms and child endangerment. Following the investigation at the business location, a subsequent search warrant led authorities to Chopra's residence in Livermore. Here, they located 19 various rifles, 25 assault rifle-style lower receivers, over 50 high-capacity magazines, .30 caliber machine gun parts, and an assault rifle-style personally manufactured firearms (PMF) jig, which is used to manufacture untraceable firearms.

On Thursday, August 17, 2023, a storage unit belonging to Chopra was found by Dublin Police in Livermore. Upon execution of another search warrant, an excess of 80 additional firearms were uncovered, including 50 rifles and approximately 30 handguns, along with a .30 caliber fully automatic machine gun.
