The case of alleged serial kidnapper and predator, Negasi Zuberi, has rocked the nation, and now it turns out that Zuberi once lived in Oakland, California. Investigators have determined that Zuberi lived in Oakland from 2012 to 2018.
FBI Special Agent In Charge Stephanie Shark recently revealed some of the deeply disturbing details surrounding Zuberi's alleged crimes and the horrific ordeal the Seattle woman who escaped from a makeshift cinder block cell in his Klamath Falls, Oregon garage according to ABC7 News. Shark described Zuberi's actions as an "ongoing an escalating pattern of violence targeting women."
In a chilling turn of events, the woman who escaped Zuberi's horrifying cinder block prison was only one of what the FBI believes to be many more possible victims. Investigators have now launched a nationwide manhunt for other potential victims and are urging them to come forward with information on his violent past.
Zuberi has not only lived in Oakland but has traversed the country, with known ties to cities as varied as Antioch and Vacaville, California, as well as Southern California and 10 other states. The FBI believes that his time in these cities is also marked by acts of violence, such as drugging drinks, impersonating police officers, and conducting a series of kidnappings, tortures, and assaults.
The story of the Seattle woman's terrifying captivity has gained national attention not only due to the sheer brutality of the crimes but also because of her heroic escape, where she fought her way out of Zuberi's clutches.
Zuberi was indicted by a federal grand jury for the alleged kidnapping of the Seattle woman and is currently in custody. The investigation into his tangled web of violence and deceit is far from over, however, as the search for other potential victims continues to grow.
