Authorities have arrested a suspect connected to a series of break-ins in Walnut Creek that took place from July 16th through July 24th. According to the Walnut Creek Police Department's Facebook page, Jarvis Ferguson, a 40-year-old man from San Francisco, has been apprehended early on August 2nd.
During the notorious crime spree, seven businesses were targeted, with six located in the downtown area and one on Oak Grove Road. Walnut Creek Police Department (WCPD) Investigations Bureau worked tirelessly to identify Ferguson as one of the culprits they believed to be responsible for all these burglaries, a victory for the local community in addition to the bevy of dedicated officers.
Eventually, at around 4:30 in the morning, WCPD detectives located the suspect in the vicinity of the Crossroads Shopping Center in Pleasant Hill, some distance away from the original crime scenes, putting an end to the string of burglaries and providing relief to the residents and business owners of Walnut Creek.
Ferguson was arrested on a warrant related to the first three burglaries and then faced additional charges for the last four incidents, including seven felony counts of 2nd Degree Burglary (PC 459/460(b)) and four felony counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Crime (PC 182(a)(2)). As reported by WCPD's Facebook post, he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and is now being held on a $220,000 bail.
While the arrest of Jarvis Ferguson is a major breakthrough in the investigations, the case has not yet been closed, as there are additional unidentified suspects still at large. The WCPD continues its endeavors to bring the remaining culprits to justice, actively seeking information from the public.
