As the Barbie craze sweeps San Diego following the release of Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" movie, the downtown nightclub Side Bar is joining the trend by transforming into a chic, pink-themed paradise for their second annual "Sidebarbie World" event today according to CBS San Diego.
Having been a staple in the Gaslamp district for over 19 years, the Side Bar nightclub is known for its unique events and entertainment. This year, the Barbie-theme is expected to make a splash with vibrant décor, photo ops, pink cocktails, and appearances by the Wynn Resident DJs, Deux Twins.
Guests can expect to indulge in Barbie-inspired cocktails like The Ken, Barbie's Beach Punch, and Life in PLastic, which will be made with Maestro Dobel Tequila, Coconut Rum, and Tito's Vodka.
While the film's blockbuster success may have been coincidental, Side Bar owner Frankie Sciuto stated that it has encouraged them to go all-in for their annual event, ensuring that it's even more special for participants as reported by FOX 5 San Diego.
Don Julio Rosado, the event's liquor partner, will also be sponsoring a variety of colorful cocktails, while attendees will have the opportunity to take part in exclusive photo opportunities featuring a Malibu Barbie Box and a Barbie Dreamhouse complete with pink beach chairs.
The event caters to San Diego's service industry workers, who typically have Wednesday nights off, and will commence at 8 p.m., with ticket prices starting at just $10 according to CBS 8.
