
On Wednesday afternoon, tragedy struck the city of San Diego when a pedestrian was fatally hit by a northbound COASTER commuter train near the San Diego International Airport. According to Fox 5 San Diego, the devastating incident occurred just north of Sassafras Street and prompted an immediate response from authorities in an effort to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station’s Transit Enforcement Unit were called to the scene at around 3:50 p.m., as stated by Fox 5 San Diego. Upon arrival, they confirmed that an adult pedestrian had indeed been fatally struck by the train. No further information regarding the victim's identity was immediately released as the investigation continues.
It is worth noting that no injuries were reported among the employees or passengers on board the COASTER train.
