On Sunday evening, a 20-year-old Salem resident lost his life as his car crashed dramatically into a fence on Puritan Road, Salem, Massachusetts, creating a heart-wrenching scene for those who bore witness. According to Boston.com, the victim, Kory Ouellette, suffered fatal injuries from the single-car crash.
Astonishingly, a home improvement worker and bystander, Vinny Valenti, raced to assist Kory after the crash. Valenti, sadly unable to save the young man's life, sat in the passenger seat and held his hand, urging him to keep breathing until the ambulance arrived. This emotional account was also shared via NBC Boston.
Valenti wasn't the only neighbor who quickly appeared to try to extremely assist. Erykah C., who lives next door, came to support Valenti during this traumatizing experience. Erykah expressed her feelings of responsibility to ensure Valenti was okay after witnessing such a horrific event.
Investigation into this horrifying crash is underway, led by the Salem Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team. As reported by WCVB, it is currently unclear why the vehicle veered off the road and struck the fence.
Neighbors have voiced concerns for road safety in the area and are advocating for the installation of warning lights and signs at the nearby intersection. Residents claim that accidents occur frequently around this location, with Erick R. stating that, "There have been numerous accidents here that happen at least once a month."
