Angus Cloud, whose sudden demise due to a drug overdose on July 31 at age 25 sent shockwaves through the entertainment world and left fans grieving, had been struggling with the recent loss of his father and achieving rapid fame for his role in the HBO series "Euphoria" per a Hoodline report.
The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau confirmed Cloud's cause of death as an "acute intoxication" due to the "combined effects of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and benzodiazepines" as ABC News reported.
The talented young actor, best known for his role as drug dealer Fezco in "Euphoria," had returned to Oakland after burying his father in Ireland. According to his mother, Lisa Cloud, this tragic loss had left her son in deep grief as reported by KRON4. Nonetheless, she emphasized that Angus' final day had been a joyful one filled with hope, as he spoke about his aspirations and desire to care for his sisters.
Perhaps unnoticed by many, Angus Cloud personified a unique struggle in the face of fame. In an interview with Interview Magazine, he confessed to preferring ordinary life over the fame that had accompanied his work in "Euphoria," stating, "I’d rather people didn’t recognize me. I just want to have regular interactions with people. I don’t want to be treated special." KRON4 reported that this sentiment reveals an unsettling truth about the human condition that may sit uneasily or ironically with audiences who long for fame and recognition.
As Oakland mourned the loss of its homegrown talent, a large mural was painted on a building on East 19th Street and Park Avenue. Local residents laid flowers and candles in remembrance of the promising actor. In the aftermath of his passing, Cloud's family released a statement, acknowledging his openness about his battle with mental health and imploring others to seek help and not fight these battles silently.
