A Massachusetts State Trooper was dragged by a fleeing vehicle during a traffic stop in Brockton earlier this week. The dramatic event was chillingly captured on video. As reported here in Hodline Boston, the incident occurred on Montello Street when the trooper pulled over the driver, 31-year-old Derek Lobo, for motor vehicle violations.
Lobo managed to quickly evade capture and fled the scene, giving rise to a high-priority manhunt led by the Massachusetts State Police. The authorities swiftly announced several charges against the fugitive, including assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and trafficking in fentanyl, as reported by Hoodline.
Thankfully, the unidentified trooper sustained only minor injuries. As the search for Lobo spiraled into an intensive investigation, the Massachusetts State Police and Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section joined forces in the pursuit of the suspect.
The authorities successfully tracked Lobo to a residence on Union Street, Brockton, and took him into custody. As Mass. State Police News reported, Lobo was subsequently booked at the State Police-Middleboro on 11 different charges.
