Mere months after a San Jose ticket was sold yielding a prize of over $300,000, another fortunate buyer has struck gold in the lottery scene. According to Powerball, Miguel Palominos Contreras purchased a winning $2 million Scratchers ticket at Moa's Service Center in Hayward.
Contreras's life-altering win not only came from an "Instant Prize Crossword" scratch-off game, but also resulted in a financial windfall for Moa's Service Center itself. The gas station, owned and operated by the Chevron Corporation, is set to receive a $10,000 bonus from the California Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
The Mega Millions jackpot currently sits at an estimated $85 million, and the Powerball pot has reached an astounding estimated $420 million, according to NBC Bay Area—both games with upcoming drawings in the days ahead.
