A new member of the California Highway Patrol's Oakland Area office successfully recovered an unregistered firearm in a traffic stop.

Officer Worthy, with just one week into her field training, has already made two arrests, assisted with a pursuit, responded to a fatal crash, and investigated a hit and run crash.

According to the CHP Oakland Facebook post, Officer Worthy and her Field Training officer, Officer Garcia, encountered a vehicle stopped on the freeway. Upon making contact with the driver, they observed signs and symptoms of impairment.

The ensuing investigation resulted in the discovery of an unregistered firearm inside the vehicle, alongside shaved keys and burglary tools. The driver, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing a firearm and was subsequently arrested on multiple charges.
