As reported by the Union City Police Department, the incident took place around 10:32 pm, when the police received a distress call notifying them of the event. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries inflicted by the gunfire—the immediacy of the critical situation prompting a quick response from the officers by attempting life-saving measures. Sadly, the victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital despite the best efforts of the medical staff.
