On August 31, 2023, a seemingly innocuous shopping trip turned into a baffling case of theft. An officer from the Hercules Police Department was dispatched to a Rite Aid, chasing down a thief who had made off with stolen goods. Little did the perpetrator know, her seemingly secretive escape was to be short lived, as reported on Hercules PD's official Facebook page.
The responding officer, located the suspect quickly as she fled the scene in her silver Mercedes Benz. While the vehicle sped westbound on Sycamore Avenue approaching San Pablo Ave, the officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop, detaining her.
The stolen Rite Aid merchandise was found in the suspect's purse, nestled within her vehicle. The suspect had attached a false license plate to the rear bumper of her Mercedes in an attempt to evade capture and continue her criminal escapades.
The merchandise, accordingtos, Hercules PD's official Facebook page, was returned to Rite Aid and the suspect was apprehended. The Mercedes Benz, with its misleading license plate, was towed away.
