The City of Hayward was shaken today as the news spread of an elderly man with Alzheimer's who has gone missing from his residence. The Hayward Police Department reached out to the public in a statement posted earlier to ask for assistance in locating the at-risk, missing adult, Mun Hwan Han.

Mr. Han, an 83-year-old Asian male, standing five feet tall and weighing 120 pounds, disappeared from his residence located in Hayward near the 28000 block of Chambers Street. According to the Hayward Police Department's statement, Mun Hwan Han was last seen yesterday, around 6:00 PM, wearing a light gray and purple shirt, blue pants, and navy blue slippers.

The seriousness of Mr. Han's situation is further emphasized by the fact that he suffers from Alzheimer's disease and is therefore considered an at risk individual. This has galvanized the community to urgently seek his safe return and assist the local authorities in their search.

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys one's memory and thinking skills, and eventually, one's ability to carry out the simplest tasks. It is considered the most common cause of dementia, a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with one's daily life.

Anyone with information about Mun Hwan Han's whereabouts is asked to contact the Hayward Police Department at 510-293-7000 or call 911.
