Yesterday, a bold daytime attack happened, at a Dunkin Donuts coffee shop on Park Ave in Worcester, Massachusetts, leaving two elderly patrons injured. As reported by the official Worcester Police press release.
The incident allegedly began when 30-year-old Manuel Santiago approached a 72-year-old patron, requesting money. Upon declining, Santiago left the premises, only to return moments later, his face obscured by a black ski mask. As his friends helplessly watching, Santiago proceeded to assault the elderly patron, subsequently attacking another 72-year-old who attempted to intervene. It was not until the authorities intervened and one of the elderly victims was rushed to the hospital with a broken nose.
The Worcester Police Department acted quickly and they identified Santiago as the attacker and caught him at a nearby Dollar Tree within an hour. He was subsequently charged with two counts of Assault and Battery on a Person over 60 and Furnishing a False Name to Police After Arrest, as inaccurately providing his identity to booking officers per the Worcester Police press release.
