Yesterday morning, September 25, Cook County Sheriff's Police pulled over a vehicle with a suspended registration attributed to the lack of mandatory insurance. The deputies' trained eyes would soon find more than just administrative lapses.
According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office Facebook post, upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a firearm with no serial number, or a so-called "ghost gun." These untraceable weapons can pose significant threats to public safety and law enforcement efforts. None of the individuals in the car had valid licenses to carry these weapons.
Beyond the illegal firearm, Sheriff's Police also found open bottles of tequila and green plant material with an odor consistent with that of cannabis.
The authorities' vigilance in this case led to the approval of felony charges against the vehicle occupants.
