On Tuesday, a seemingly ordinary traffic stop for multiple vehicle code violations on westbound I-80 from Willow Ave led to an unsettling discovery.w A Hercules Police Department officer found a concealed stash of loaded firearms and ammunition during a probable cause search according to the official Hercules PD Facebook post.
The search revealed a fully loaded Glock 23 with an extended magazine hidden beneath the front passenger seat in a crossbody bag. Moreover, the officer also discovered a Glock 17 with no record or registration on file in the trunk, as well as a 30-round rifle magazine filled with 7.62 ammo in a backpack. The driver, who was arrested and booked in jail for multiple firearm-related charges, was transporting these undisclosed weapons at a time when concerns about the presence of firearms and the potential for violence seem to be ever-present.
