As residents of Hercules awoke to the screech of tires and the crunch of metal on Sunday. According to the Hercules Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at 11:17 AM after receiving reports of a vehicle collision, with the responsible party attempting to flee. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a black Ford Fusion that had collided with a parked red Nissan Rogue and a parked white Toyota Tacoma.
The Hercules Police Department reported that the driver of the Ford displayed obvious signs of intoxication and was uncooperative with law enforcement. Unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests and refusing to take a preliminary alcohol screening, the driver was inevitably arrested, and their vehicle towed.
However, the situation grew more concerning when officers discovered a potentially deadly substance during an inventory search. Hidden within the glove box of the intoxicated driver's vehicle, officers found the presence of suspect Fentanyl.
