
The Boston community mourned the tragic loss of 12-year-old Savion Ellis on July 13, when he became a victim of violence on Fessenden Street. But today, an arrest has been made in connection to his case. Walter Hendrick, a 22-year-old from Roxbury, was taken into custody by members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit.
According to the Boston Police Department, Hendrick was wanted on warrants for Manslaughter, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Witness Intimidation.
As the officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrived at 35 Fessenden Street after receiving reports of a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered young Savion suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, but was sadly pronounced dead.
For now, Walter Hendrick is scheduled to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court tommorow. The Boston Police Department continues to review the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
