On September 23, the people of Oakland once again gather to embrace their role as stewards of the environment, converging on the 28th annual Oakland Creek to Bay Day, an event that witnesses thousands of volunteers working to clean up the city's shorelines and waterways. This year, the Oakland Public Works (OPW) joined forces with local volunteer leaders to champion a day of action, growth, and connectivity within the Oakland community, according to the City of Oakland announcement.

Among the designated cleanup sites this year were popular locations like FROG Park, Dimond Park & Canyon, Clinton Park, and Lake Merritt, each of which welcomed large groups of volunteers; groups of 10 or more were, in fact, encouraged to RSVP according to the announcement. With seven sites sponsored by OPW for community involvement, the range of support achieved demonstrates the dedication of Oaklanders, who remain invested in the vitality of their local ecosystems.
