The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff issued a missing-person appeal for Joseph in a Contra Costa Sheriff's Office post on Facebook. The appeal described Joseph as an 18-year-old Black male standing 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a gray polo sweatshirt with a cross on the right breast and blue jeans.
