As we approached the twenty-second anniversary of the tragic September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States, cities across the nation prepare to honor the memory of those who perished. In Boston, all flags at police facilities will be flown at half-staff on Monday, September 11, 2023, from sunrise to sunset, according to the Boston Police Department.
The lowering of flags serves as a tribute not only to the nearly 3,000 lives lost on 9/11 but also, to those brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed.
Such commemorations are not exclusive to Boston, as cities across the country host their own tributes and remembrances.
