A convicted felon is now facing a federal indictment for allegedly possessing a firearm and ammunition. Tarik Muhammad, a 29-year-old Boston resident, was indicted in September 2023 on one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition following an alleged incident at the Encore Casino in February 2023 according to U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Massachusetts.
According to the charging documents, Muhammad was denied entry to the casino when security detected that he was carrying a firearm. Local law enforcement was alerted, but Muhammad reportedly left before their arrival. Cameras at the casino allegedly captured him leaving the scene in a blue Toyota Rav 4, which was later pursued by police.
The chase ended in Roxbury when Muhammad allegedly crashed into an occupied, parked vehicle and was apprehended on foot. A loaded semi-automatic pistol was found in his waistband, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Prior to that, Muhammad was also convicted last year in U.S District Court in Boston for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, and at the time of the alleged Encore Casino incident, he was on federal supervised release.
