On September 2, a retail theft incident unfolded at the Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo, California. Two suspects, Anson Lopez and Taneisha Morales, were accused of stealing items from Macy's department store. According to an official statement from the San Mateo Police Department, the pair were confronted by Macy's Loss Prevention agents as they attempted to leave the store. In response, Lopez assaulted an agent by punching them, and both suspects fled the scene.
Within minutes of the crime being reported, several officers arrived on the scene and began searching for the suspects. Both Lopez and Morales were located just a few blocks away from the mall.
Ultimately, Lopez and Morales were arrested without incident, and the stolen merchandise was recovered. They were both charged with second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime and have been booked into San Mateo County Jail.
