On Sunday, at approximately 8:10 a.m., three juveniles were innocently playing on the sidewalk of the 3100 block of South Halsted St when they were approached by a male asking to use their cell phone. The situation quickly escalated, with the man attempting to lure the potential victims into his vehicle.
The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert, urging citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities they witness.
According to the Chicago Police Department's report, the offender is described as a male Black-Hispanic believed to be between the age of 20-30, shirtless with multiple tattoos on both arms, medium complexion, and a ponytail hairstyle. The driver of vehicle was a female, white 40-50 years of age.
The offender's vehicle was a gray four door sedan.
A witness intervened, and the offender fled the scene in his vehicle, sparing the young victims from potential harm. Chicago PD Detectives are encouraging citizens to take note of any known details and any unique offender characteristics, such as clothing, scars, tattoos, limps, acne, teeth, etc.
Furthermore, they urged, "Never approach the subject(s) [or] the vehicle," if they believe the suspects are in the vacinity.
