Earlier today, a man was tragically swept overboard from the MTM Dublin, an oil tanker moored near Boston's coastline. He would later lose his life, despite the monumental rescue efforts put forth by nearby fishermen and emergency personnel, according to NBC Boston.

The unidentified man fell from the tanker around 4:37 a.m., with mayday calls for a man overboard echoing through the airwaves. The U.S. Coast Guard was soon on the scene, but it was the crew of a commercial fishing vessel, the America, who found the man.

Despite the stormy seas and harsh conditions, the crew of the America responded to distress calls and embarked on a search for a man in need. Armed only with flashlights, they persevered and uncovered the man, who wore a bright red life vest, standing out in the darkness a mile away from the tanker per Hoodline.

The fishermen hoisted the unresponsive and gravely injured man aboard their vessel,  as they commenced CPR, and began their haste-filled journey back to shore. As they navigated the waters, the Boston Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard, flanked them as they steered towards the awaiting arms of the Boston EMS on shore.

According to Boston 25 News report, the paramedics forged ahead with the efforts to save the man's life, while continuing CPR as they rushed him to the nearest hospital. Though their collaboration was valiant, the man's life could not be salvaged, and he succumbed to his ordeal as per the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
