At the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Pacific Heights Boulevard in Sorrento Valley, a 57-year-old woman made the fateful decision to cross Mira Mesa Boulevard against a red light yesterday evening. As reported by The Times of San Diego, she fell victim to a 2016 Chrysler Pacifica van, driven by an unsuspecting 40-year-old man.
The incident occurred at around 8:15 p.m. and saw the woman step into the intersection as the van was driving east, as per 10News. The driver had little chance to react as the pedestrian appeared in his path, resulting in the tragic loss of life. Hoping to find solace and answers in the face of such a catastrophe, investigators have quickly ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.
What remains to be done is a detailed examination by the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division, who are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident.
