
On Tuesday, a tragic event unfolded on Route 495 in Foxborough, leaving one dead and another with serious injuries.
The accident occurred between a 2018 Ford Escape and a 2012 Hyundai Tucson, with the former becoming engulfed in flames.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, the operator of the Ford, now identified as Elizabeth Peter, 24, from Mansfield, succumbed to her injuries following the incident while the Tucson driven by a 30-year-old North Easton man sustained serious injuries. Multiple units, including State Police Troop H and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, are involved in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
As reported in an article by Hoodline, the collision ignited a fire that engulfed one of the vehicles, raising concerns that were addressed by Foxborough and Plainville Fire Departments, further leading the MassDOT to inspect an overpass for potential damage.
As emphasized by the Massachusetts State Police and the Hoodline report, the investigation into the fatal Foxborough crash has yet provide a definitive cause.
