In a time when video surveillance is becoming increasingly integral to maintaining public safety and solving crimes. Gregory Clanton Jr., 39, from Vacaville, and Garrick Schroder, 33, from Fairfield, were arrested in connection with a string of thefts, vehicle tampering, and burglaries that occurred between July and September of this year in the City of Vacaville, according to the Vacaville Police Department.
The investigation leading to the arrest of these two individuals was anything but straightforward, as it involved hours of video footage analysis and search warrant evidence. While the role of video surveillance in crime solving has been popularized by television shows such as "CSI," the reality is far less glamorous and far more labor-intensive. The capture of Clanton and Schroder hinged on the assistance of local businesses who provided access to their functioning surveillance systems, and police officers and detectives' dedication in meticulously reviewing hours of footage to decipher valuable leads.
Among the evidence collected in the case were electrical equipment and keys allegedly stolen from a construction site. This evidence was discovered in Clanton's car when he was stopped by detectives, further solidifying the connection between the suspects and the string of crimes afflicting the city of Vacaville. Subsequently, both Clanton and Schroder were booked into the Solano County Jail on various felony charges ranging from burglary and conspiracy to vandalism, grand theft, and possession of stolen property, as per the Vacaville Police Department.
