A vital artery that connects Alameda and Oakland—known as the Webster Tube (State Route 61)—will be temporarily shutting down overnight on October 2, 3, and 4 to facilitate maintenance work.

According to an official announcement from the City of Alameda, the tube is slated to close at 10 p.m. on each of these three nights, reopening at 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

During this maintenance period, the Posey Tube, another connector between Alameda and Oakland, will remain open. However, during the day, the Webster Tube will still be accessible to motorists, with closures affecting only the overnight hours.

The California Highway Patrol will be present to assist motorists in navigating detours around the Posey Tube.
