According to a Facebook post by the Adams Police Department, earlier this week, a disturbing incident unfolded within the rooms of the Millhouse Apartments on Commercial Street.
A panicked 911 call was received, and the caller reportedly claimed to have been strangled and was hiding inside one of the apartment's rooms. Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and conducted a protective sweep of the premises, locating the suspect inside.
The tense situation escalated when the suspect was discovered to be in possession of a handgun, concealed in their waistband. Surprisingly, the officers managed to secure the suspect in handcuffs and remove the firearm without any further incidents occurring. The swift and precise action on behalf of the officers potentially averted a far more disastrous outcome, showcasing their professionalism in a high-pressure setting.
While the community can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the alleged suspect is in custody, questions have arisen regarding the bail set for this individual. The suspect was released on a mere $40.00 personal recognizance, set to appear in Northern Berkshire District Court for arraignment.
