The Antioch Police Department reported that the incident began when police officers investigating a suspicious vehicle encountered an armed man who held a warrant for homicide. The situation escalated when the man refused to obey the officers, resulting in shots fired and his hospitalization.
APD reported that the man attempted to escape, first in his vehicle then on foot, with the firearm in his hand.
