Two separate instances of armed robberies occurred in West Lawrence and West Fullerton yesterday evening. The robberies took place within hours of one another, adding to the underlying tensions of safety in the city after dark.
The first robbery happened at the 3100 block of W Lawrence around 8:45 pm, with two male assailants demanding money from a local business, according to the Chicago Police. They used handguns for threat and, over the course of the event, successfully stole a female patron's purse before making their exit.
Shortly afterward, another robbery transpired at the 3000 block of W Fullerton around 10:45 pm, as detailed in another Chicago Police article. Two men, similiarly armed with handguns and disguised in ski masks, demanded property from a different business. A male victim suffered shock and physical harm in the encounter, and the robbers escaped with a sum of stolen money.
In wake of the incidents, city detectives from Area Five carry on the investigation. As the community members manage the aftermath, staying vigilant becomes a necessary safeguard against these threats.
