The Boston Police Department (BPD) has continually searched for methods to solidify trust and bolster relationships within the communities they serve. October 9th marked one such occasion as officers from District E-13 took part in a hybrid event of faith and service at the Senior Day Health Center in Jamaica Plain.
The officers had an opportunity to sit in on a mass at the Nuevo Dia health center for the elderly, presided over by a fellow officer who also acts as a pastor. The BPD website reports that the service was vibrant with clapping and singing as the pastor/officer shared a compelling sermon and interacted effectively with the attendees. Some seniors were blessed individually for their specific illnesses.
This emphasizes partnerships between law enforcement bodies and religious communities in fostering understanding, establishing open dialogue, and building reciprocal trust.
