Cambridge, Massachusetts, announces the 24th Annual Family Literacy Fun Day on Saturday, November 4th, to celebrate National Family Literacy Month as stated by the City of Cambridge.
The event is jointly organized by The Agenda for Children Literacy Initiative, Cambridge Public Library, Cambridge Public Schools/Title I & Home-Based Program, and the Cambridge Center for Families. Its target attendees are Cambridge families with children from birth to the 3rd grade, and activities will include talking, reading, singing, and storytelling, ending with a light to-go lunch.
Scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cambridge City Hall, children will be freely given books and engage in fun activities. The aim of this gathering is to inspire a love of reading and literacy in to young children, by exposing them to a nurturing and supportive, environment full of stimulating activities.
In addition, the Family Literacy Fun Day underlines that reading should not be a solitary activity but one that creates connections between individuals, families, and communities. It is a reminder that in an era of digital screens, personal interactions around reading and language are crucial.
