Today, the Department of Justice indicted Chicago attorney, Mohammad Reza Baniassadi, on immigration fraud charges. Their report details that Baniassadi, in practice since 2013, is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit immigration fraud and five counts of falsifying immigration benefit applications. These charges shed light on potential fraudulent practices within the immigration process.
According to the indictment, Baniassadi allegedly submitted false information to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to secure immigration benefits for his clients. These fraudulent activities supposedly included advising clients to engage in sham marriages, falsifying spousal abuse claims, and creating bogus job offers from American companies promising to sponsor clients for residency. The indictment asserts that the defendant, presumed innocent until proven guilty, is charged with such offenses and the government holds the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Baniassadi, now a wanted fugitive, has an arrest warrant issued against him.
