
On Monday, October 23, two Venezuelan migrants, Abel Barrios-Estava and Rafael Mata-Torres of Chicago, were charged in connection with a retail theft at Oak Brook Macy's. As per DuPage County, they face one count of Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Retail Theft (Class 3 Felony), associated with the alleged theft of over $1,700 worth of merchandise.
Oak Brook's Deputy Chief of Police, Mark King, stated the police department's active engagement in battling organized retail theft and prosecuting culprits in collaboration with retail loss prevention agents and the DuPage State's Attorney's office.
Barrios-Estava and Mata-Torres await their arraignment scheduled on November 20, 2023.
