The shooting happened around 1:40 a.m., according to police, as reported by Nadig Newspapers. Police said the shots were fired from a passenger seated in a moving car. Police have not reported that the gunfire caused any property damage. The incident remains under investigation.
A Second Ainslie Street Incident Later
Later, Chicago police arrested three teenagers after an attempted car theft on Ainslie Street. Officers recovered a semi-automatic handgun and a key fob programmer at the scene, according to the same Nadig Newspapers report. The incidents on the same street point to a cluster of late-night criminal activity involving firearms and vehicles in the area.
Whether the vehicle involved in the Sept. 4 shooting was stolen remains an open question for investigators.
