Chicagoans enjoyed a pleasant, dry autumn day today. The fair weather, however, is expected to give way to intermittent wet conditions during the upcoming week, courtesy of information from the National Weather Service. Anticipated are scattered rains from Monday to Tuesday, with the possibility of substantial downpour extending into Wednesday.
Today should be dry. The work week looks fairly wet, though intermittent breaks can be expected. Scattered showers Mon into Tues with better chances for larger coverage into Wed. Rain chances linger through the end of the week as the front slowly moves east. #ILwx #INwx pic.twitter.com/nSwAZjVEzO

As reported by NBC Chicago, despite today's high temperature in the mid-50s, a climb in temperature will gradually occur during the week. Early week might see patchy frost in rural areas, but the consistent rise in temperature paves the way for possible afternoon and evening showers.
Tuesday is expected to bring a notable contrast, with interchanging bouts of sunshine, rain, and thunderstorms. Despite some disruption, the temperatures will likely exceed the typical seasonal average, hitting the low-to-mid 70s per another report from NBC Chicago.
Higher chances of widespread rain are expected for midweek, and high temperatures continue to nestle firmly in the 70 category. A cold front slowly approaches by Thursday, further enhancing the rain likelihood while temperatures hold steady around 70 degrees.
Changes are in store as the weekend approaches, and temperatures are set to drop to low-to-mid 50s. Clearer conditions might be on tap for the start of Halloween week, but cooler days with highs in the mid-40s should be acknowledged, underscoring the city's weather volatility.
