Four males were shot at by an unidentified aggressor from an unknown vehicle on the 0-100 block of S. Whipple, as the Chicago Police Department has reported. Among the victims was a seven-year-old child. One of the victims, a 38-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to the lower back while the 31-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head. They were both transported to Mount Sinai and are under critical condition.
The 7-year-old victim sustained a grazed wound to the head, and the 33-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Both were transported to Stroger Hospital where the 33-year-old male was pronounced dead.
As these shootings are being investigated, Chicago's residents and officials grapple with the harsh reality of gun-related fatalities and injuries in their communities.
Update: The 31-year-old victim has died.
