Missing Eritrean Man with Schizophrenia Safely Located in Oakland

Awot Tara, an Eritrean man classified as missing and at-risk, was successfully located yesterday in a community-based recovery effort.

As reported by the Oakland Police Department, Tara had disappeared two days prior and the urgency was amplified due to his significant health issues. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, Tara had been out of reach of his necessary medication. His safe return was attributed to the combined efforts of the Oakland Police Department (OPD), media outlets, and community members.
