Yesterday, an 80-year old woman sadly lost her life in a house fire in Santee. The incident occurred in the Ashdale Lane area and was first reported by a neighbor who noticed flames and thick smoke emanating from the home, as per the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The woman's husband, standing outside their aflame residence, could only watch as the tragedy unfolded.
Emergency crews from the Santee Sheriff's Station and Santee Fire Department were quickly on the scene, arriving in under five minutes. They bravely entered the burning building to rescue the woman and initiate life-saving CPR. Unfortunately, despite their heroic efforts, she died in the hospital due to her injuries.
To investigate the fire's origin and cause, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Bomb/Arson Unit arrived on the scene. Their inquiry initially pointed towards the garage as the fire's starting point. However, the exact cause still remains to be determined. It's significant to note that the fire doesn't appear to be suspicious at present.
