Following emergency calls around 1:39 p.m. on Tuesday, police and emergency responders arrived at the 5800 block of Goble Road in Earlville to find the house already destroyed by the explosion. One individual was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries, reports NBC Chicago. Authorities closed Goble Road in both directions to ensure a safe environment for investigators and for the debris-clearing process.
The Earlville explosion follows on the heels of a similar incident in Woodstock a week earlier. A gas leak caused this previous explosion, which damaged a church, a school, and an additional eight buildings, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
