In Back Bay, the venerable St. Cecilia's Church hosted the Boston Police Department and their K-9 unit recently to commence their participation in the Faith & Blue 2023 initiative. The goal of this project is to fortify relationships between the police, religious institutions, and the broader community as indicated in the Boston Police Department's press release.
Initiated with the Blessing of the Animals, during which Father John Unni offered prayers for the K-9 squad, the weeklong program will host a variety of events and activities throughout Boston's diverse neighborhoods. Since its launch in 2020 to, Faith & Blue's reach has been expanding and is anticipated to burgeon further in the future years. A growing number of departments nationwide are likely to follow Boston's example.
